Aims & Objectives
To provide small grants, typically in the range of £250 to £5,000, although possibly more in exceptional circumstances.
Grant applications will be considered from both the Town Council and voluntary organisations (including clubs, societies and community projects) to provide or improve amenities, facilities or support one-off projects for the benefit of the inhabitants of Menai Bridge.
We have provided grants to a number of organisations, for example, The Scouts & Guides, Menai Bridge Cricket Club, Menai Bridge Rugby Club, War Memorial Community Centre, Menai Bridge Band and the Menai Bridge Carnival Community Group
Who are we ?
The Dale Street Trust is a Registered Charity (No: 1080499) which was created in 2007 under a scheme to govern the proceeds from the sale of the former Council offices in Dale Street. These funds are invested as Capital, with the income earned thereon providing small grants for the general benefit of the inhabitants of Menai Bridge.
The Trustees consist of 15 Council trustees nominated by the Menai Bridge Town Council, who in turn co-opt a further 3 trustees from the community.
Application Process and Qualifying Considerations
The Trustees meet up to 4 times a year to consider grant applications, usually on a quarterly basis. Applications must be made in writing using the Application pro-forma below.`
• Grant applications will be considered from the Town Council and voluntary organisations (including clubs, societies and community projects) to provide or improve amenities, facilities or support one-off projects for the benefit of the inhabitants of Menai Bridge.
• Applicant organisations, and their facilities and amenities, must be located in the Town of Menai Bridge.
• All grant applications must be accompanied by the organisation’s audited or independently certified accounts for the most recent financial year.
• All grant applications must provide details of other funding to demonstrate the financial viability of the scheme as the Trust will not bear the entire cost of the scheme.
• All grant applications must be able to demonstrate financial need for the grant applied for.
• Applications for retrospective schemes or those on which work has started will be rejected.
• Applications will be rejected from those voluntary organisations which have benefitted from grant support from this fund in the previous two years.
• Applications for routine maintenance expenditure and running costs will be rejected.
Where appropriate, applicant organisations should submit three firm estimates for the proposed scheme.

Completed applications must be submitted to the The Dale Street Trust, c/o Menai Bridge

Grant Claiming Process
Applicants should note the following with respect to claiming and payment of the grant:
• Any grant award will be paid upon completion of the scheme. Completion must be evidenced by copy invoice(s) and evidence of their settlement. If the total actual cost of the scheme is less than estimated in the grant application the grant paid will be reduced on a commensurate basis. Under no circumstances will the grant be increased if the total cost of the scheme is greater than estimated in the grant application.
• Unless specifically stated in the grant award letter, the grant must be claimed within 12 months of the award date. However, in exceptional circumstances the applicant organisation may apply for an extension before the expiry of this 12 month period, and the extension will be considered at the discretion of the Trust where there is reasonable justification, for example, delays in completion of physical works which are beyond the control of the applicant.
